Well dear reader.... it appears we are beginning a new political era.... with the opening to the public of Friday's meeting between municipal officials in Shelburne County and new Provincial Ministers who are responsible for six portfolios. Providing the public with the opportunity to hear the questions asked and the answers given is what democracy is all about......
As you can tell from the comments of your fellow readers ..... hopes and expectations are high (for the most part).... even though some comments remain cynical and critical. More importantly folks appear ready to demand more openness from our politicians and public servants in the conduct of public affairs....
Witness the recent public outcries and demands for answers ..... in Barrington, Tusket, the Municipality of Yarmouth ..... and even the Town of Yarmouth.... a call to stop public bodies from conducting public business behind closed doors with little recorded evidence of what transpired has gone out from the public and smart politicians will heed the call.... now!
This fledgling movement .... for access to information and transparency must be at the heart of informed dialogue between government and the governed respecting public issues .... and that is terrific!
Friday's opportunity for the public to listen in on a conversation between two levels of government ......is an important first step on the path to better governance and bodes well for the future..... I'm certainly looking forward to it and I hope you are too.
By the way...... If you get a chance to attend you might consider bringing along your older children and explaining to them the importance of informed public participation in a democracy..... they'll thank you in the years to come.

Gawd, just when you thought things were improving I see Frank has unleashed his legal beagles on Timothy AGAIN. What is to say SWS Dept. of Art is Timothy's brainchild, and as for tarnishing the SouthWest Shore Development Agency (SWSDA) trademark, Frank has tarnished that so badly it will never shine again. Guess those McInnis Cooper fellows need some quick cash, as if they haven't drained our funds for their hefty fees enough already. This is so ridiculous Frank should be tarred and feathered and made to apologize to the people of Shelb. Co. immediately. POWER TO THE PEOPLE - we've had enough of this crap from Frank and we refuse to take it anymore.
Yes, I like your idea to get young people interested in how politics works.
You have certainly opened my mind to wanting to learn more.

What's going on with MoB these days? They're questioning their involvement in the Shelburne Co. Industrial Commission and with the SWSDA/YAIC land deals they are not looking like the model council they once were. Things are beginning to unravel in strange ways.
Tim ,you certainly know how to get the dishonest fellow and his buddies dipping into more of that easy money for threats to shut off your way of getting messages out....Good luck to you in dealing with such disturbed (in many ways)individuals.
Hope you have a good background and lawyer friends to deal with such threats.Keep us posted,please.
Certainly is an interesting way to stir the thoughts of Frank...He recognized who the subject was in all works of art!!!!!!MANY PEOPLE AND MAGAZINES HAVE THAT FIRST NAME .....BUT HE IS HIDING BEHIND SWSDA....FOR WHAT IT IS WORTH TO SINCERE PEOPLE.YES,IF HE DID AN HONEST DAYS WORK FOR OUR AREA HE'D EARN A POSITIVE WORK OF ART !!!!!Then he WOULD NOT WASTE MONEY ON LAWYERS....He could be a happy respected man again.
ll:45 Wouldn't you thunk that Frank and the gang would know better than to play with fire by now? At the rate they're going there won't be any money left in their slush projects/funds to take their sabbaticals to climes unknown. The only ones with smiles these days are SWSDA lawyers - they know they'll be steadily employed for the next few years.
I have to wonder if Frank is the scapegoat for someone more sinister.SWSDA was never well supervised from the get go.In no way do I support Frank but at the same the time I know of other players who work behind the scenes.It would seem that the COC and local pols are untouchables.So much has been swept under the carpet for so long1 Amazing!!
