Re: EC. & TOURISM PRESS RELEASE, 20 Feb 1999
1. Liberal MLA Clifford Huskilson says once Sound Stage complete it will create 100 jobs.
2. Funding:
(a.) $1.95 million Fed/Prov Co-op agreement on Economic Diversification,
(b.) $400,000. from Human Resources,
(c.) $150,000. from CBCD, and
(d.) $100,000. from SWSDA (plus $800,000. "IN KIND" from SWSDA)
3. SWSDA will manage the project.

NOTE: Vaughan Engineering (MacDonnell) awarded contract and the project experienced cost overruns.

With the former Shelb. Park DA receiving $3 million from the feds in 1996, this project has been "a gift that keeps on giving" for everyone but those who lost jobs with the 1994 closure of CFS Shelburne. Here we have SWSDA/YAIC still posting expenses to the Sound Stage Project, be it to McInnis, Cooper or whatever, while the offspring of former CFS Shelburne workers have had to leave the area to seek employment.

Until the SWSDA/YAIC money trail is exposed, HOW CAN ERD IMPOSE A MARCH 2010 DEADLINE? ERD and ACOA enabled this scam for years and now ERD expects Shelburne Co. citizens and councils to overlook the elephant still sitting in their midst and do the barnwork along with it - get real!

I'd advise Minister Paris to get his act in gear and give this matter top priority on his TO-DO LIST. Minister Belliveau appears to have forgotten his primary job - representation of his electorate. It's one thing for the NDP to renege on campaign promises, it's another to allow further dispersal of development funds. ~ S. Fry

That doesn't include the hundred grand the squatter forfeited or million plus from the sale or.......
The pressure is on to wrap things up 31 Mar. in prep for the new FY and wouldn't you love to know what and where NDP/ERD & PC/ACOA will dole out remaining 2009/10 funds during their March-madness spree - deficit, what deficit? LOL
