Good Reviews of SWSDA Projects

-------- Your tax dollars at work ---------

A week ago I invited readers ".... to describe all of the good things SWSDA has done... Send the documented information in about SWSDA's socio-economic development impacts in our communities that local businesses and agencies could not have done simply by going to the funding agency directly and I will gladly print them. Deal?", I said.

Gee folks.... you aren't being fair....

Surely with more than $150 million in cash and kind over the past 13 years we could write a little bit of positive stuff....

Isn't anyone going to write?

One writer today was critical of our blog because he thought comments by readers were increasingly rumour-based....

To that writer.... here's a renewed invitation to provide factual information about all the good things SWSDA has done over the last 13 years that could not have been done by the folks in our communities if they had gone directly to government departments and agencies themselves.

Surely, someone can come to SWSDA's aid.....

Since FY 2005/2006 SWSDA has spent some $15 million dollars of our tax dollars... COLD, HARD CASH....all in the cause of development in our communities .... under the watchful eyes of our representatives on their Board of Directors.

Hey!! ... staff.... Board Members.... municipal, provincial or federal governments..... anyone? Got something good to say or show for the money?

I agree Ed and I say disband SWSDA and go back to the old way of municipal and town councils accessing funding through the proper channels. This business of duplicating provincial and federal services has to stop. Look around people - SWSDA sure didn't assist in replacing a fraction of the hundreds of jobs lost through the closure of the two major employers of the area. I'm shocked Frank and his gang haven't flunked their Performance Ratings. Their mandate was to "assist" the region in business development and we haven't seen the leadership this requires. Instead we have a dictator who, with a complicit board, keeps the public in the dark on such a simple thing as travel expenses. He really does think we're stupid, as anyone with a clue knows that the info would be forthcoming if there was nothing to hide. Out with it Frank and save us more legal beagle fees - McInnes Cooper have had enough of your business already. As someone said previously, you are a servant of this region and not its master. We want a Ms. Tipton in our town and municipal offices to assist staff and councils in their efforts to improve the lives of those who live in this area.
